| Acura has developed a loyal following with its RDX crossover, and for 2011, the model should give the loyalists more of what they crave, while at the same time attracting buyers new to the brand.
The RDX is available as either a front-wheel- or all-wheel-drive model. Both come powered by a 2.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which produces 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, thanks to Acura's tried and true i-VTEC variable valve actuation. Power is put to the wheels through a 5-speed automatic with Sequential SportShift steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system controls the distribution of power to all four wheels individually, which allows for precise handling even at high speeds, thanks to yaw control and electronic stability control.
The RDX is a versatile people mover, with room for five adults, and when necessary, the 60/40-spit rear seat can fold flat to create nearly 61 cubic feet of cargo space. Standard leather seating surfaces give a premium look and feel.
Notable on all RDX models are the ample standard features, including Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, dual-zone climate control, a 7-speaker, 360-watt stereo with 6-disc CD changer, MP3 compatibility, XM satellite radio, an auxiliary input, automatic headlights and a rearview camera.
The RDX can be had with an array of available safety features, including ABS, traction control and an antiskid system.
Acura's Tech Package can be added to the RDX. It includes navigation with voice recognition, as well as a ten-speaker premium stereo system. Additionally, the AcuraLink Satellite Communication System with Real-Time Traffic now features Traffic Rerouting and AcuraLink Real-Time Weather.
The RDX comes standard with side air bags for front occupants and full-length side-curtain bags for all outboard occupants and it has achieved both a 5-star rating in federal front- and side-impact crash tests and an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick. |
